No idea about the cost, but I believe they probably need to pay BMI and ASCAP anyway since the brokered shows likely have music at some point. Maybe they went over a limit with WAIT. I really only heard any of it on WNDZ except in summer months when they would sign on at 5:15 or 5:30 and would lose that hour by August.
WSBC doesnít need to sign off at all. Iím guessing shutting it off at 9 simply saves money. Signals on graveyard frequencies like 1240 do not get out far enough to justify it. Fewer buy time at night on stations like this because of coverage loss.
