I think you know this but for the others, they received that money via auction following the voluntary surrender of the FREQUENCY (bandwidth). This is to allow the expansion of (LTE) high speed internet and voice services in the 700Mhz spectrum. TMobile bought most of this, notably the old WPWR spectrum so they can penetrate buildings and have better service in Chciago. Before this TMobile was marginal because their service in Chicago was limited above 1.8Ghz which provides awesome data speeds but terrible distance and building penetration.
In corporate America, you never give up anything including a piece of gum stuck on your shoe. So they moved their property over to the WFLD digital subcarriers. They will never surrender WPWR as the viewers have no clue what is technically occurring and it has heritage branding. It could be the home to the next newest, hottest national network or branding that has not been created yet.
