They prepared and filed the application for this in the Fall of 2017. They obviously worked out the details months prior to filing.
Ownership change took effect in November of 2017.
To diplex a station, a lot of measurements need to be made. Then the diplexer has to be built. Then work has to be done on the tower (thus the downtime) Then they have to either move the existing transmitter and install a new one, and all of the feed lines, STL, etc thatís going with it. Depending on the situation, it can take months or in this case years.
Should be finished soon at this point. Once itís up and running they can demolish the old 780 site and sell the land, which is worth more than whatís on it. Common these days.
