There are a few that are still going to the format. This is one. Z107 Sheboygan, WI... 950 WCLB and an FM translator. Jocks 5:30am-Midnight & weekends.
The stuff out now is mostly down tempo. Panic at the Disco, I believe is the first ROCK record since Kongos Come Go With Me. 2012. I don't think there's been anything since. Remember Trapt and Headstong? CHR played ROCK records. I certainly remember hearing hat on U-93 South Bend.
Perry, Gaga, Swift have peaked. Ed Sheeran? Pah-leeze! Adele? CHR depended on these, but they are out of the demo and what is replacing them? Maroon 5 is still around.
The songs are on the charts f o r e v e r! Years ago, 3 songs were easily added per week. Now, playlists are TIGHT. 1 add a week?
The gold played is no older than 1 year, if that. Something 5 years old almost sounds out of place.
Commercial loads are HORRIBLE! I was in a store. They had a radio on. 14 commercials in a row!!!!
(All were 30's.) The song after 7 minutes of commercials wasn't even a power, or something recognizable! Horrid.
The same pd for 23 years could be the problem. He might run the whole cluster, but each station needs someone to fine tune each station.
Politics? "This is the way it's done?"
I guess this is what you have a corporate culture.
Seemed it was better pre-1996. Now there's a few good stations and 3 or 4 to flank the others. People, don't think like radio execs think.
I'm sure I added nothing to this discussion, but those are the thoughts of a person who has loved the format and the formatics of CHR my entire life.
Still holding out hope. Back to "FM104-Dublin's Hit Music Station"
