This past week, on a day I was at the cat shelter, the manager told me she wanted to talk to me about something after the shelter closed, and everyone else had left. Hmmmm. So when that time came she told me that because the Cat Protection Society had recently lost a couple members of the board of directors, the owner of the shelter was wondering if I might be interested in becoming a board member! Huh? What?! This had never even crossed my mind!

I told the manager that with everything else I have going on, it would be difficult for me to attend meetings, even if they happened just a few times a year. Part of the reason I had dropped out of other similar situations in years past.

A bit later on the manager told me the owner had checked the CPS charter, or bylaws, and found that they needed only 4 board members to hold meetings, and they had at least that many, so I was off the hook on making a decision. Whew!
