1. First time using clippers. I was about 14 and found an old set of Wahl clippers at my grandparents house. It was 1989 and skater hair was becoming popular. I had a mullet that had grown out. The clippers only had one guard, a #2. Without any thought I gave myself an undercut with those clippers. The fire was lit.
2. June 15, 1990. First buzz cut. I had been using the clippers mentioned above to maintain an undercut. I had let the top grow out a lot. Probably 6-8 inches. I was tired of this hair and wanted a flattop. I was too scared to go to a barber shop. So on the morning of June 15, 1990, I took those 30 year old clippers and ran them right down the middle of my head. I gave myself a #2 all over buzz cut. I then waited an entire year to cut it again but I kept it long.
3. I was just out of college before I went to a real barber shop. First barber shop experience. I had maintained an undercut for a while again. This time I was almost reaching Mohawk territory. Just a little too high on one side, yes it was lopsided. I had grown out the buzz part about 3 or 4 months so there was a good amount of hair.
I just decided one day that’s it, I’ll go to a real barber shop and see what happens. I had the intention of fixing it, as I was going to start to interview for jobs. So I road around for an hour before I mustered up the courage to walk in. I walked in, no waiting, immediately sat in the chair. The barber caped me and got his comb ready. Asked what we were doing. I said trim the top age clean up the sides. He ran his comb through and said, I can’t fix this with a trim, maybe go across the street and pointed at a salon. I said ok and started to get up, but half way up I said you cut it the way you want. He proceeded to get the clippers out and cut the top to a #4 and the sides and back to a #2. Kinda in shock but loved every second of it.
4. I had recently moved to a new town and eyed up a traditional barber shop. First flat top. Finally. I had recently started a new job maybe 3 months had past. I knew I was going to do something drastic soon. I figured new years is a good time. Good excuse to explain a radical change. Just say I do this every year. So on January 2 1999 I went to the maple street barber shop on a busy morning, waited my turn and with a full 3” of side parted collar length hair I sat in the chair, the barber put the cape on, asked what it would be and I said Flattop! His only question was skin? And I said yes. And then I let it grow out.
5. Real induction cut. Police academy, 2002. We were giving conflicting directions on how to turn up. Shirt and tie, suit, some said make sure you don’t get a fresh haircut some said make sure you show up bald. All part of the day 1 game.
Anyway how could 50 people look the same with conflicting info? So after the meet and greet, we were introduced to out DIs. We got uniforms issued and were told to go to the squad bay and change into pt attire then report to the gym. In the gym there were 3 chairs, 4 DIs 3 of which had guard less clippers. Just like the movies.

BuzzLife Rules:
This board is designed to be a destination to discuss male haircuts, from buzzcuts, flattops, bald, and more!
By using this, you accept all liability for your posts and their contents. BuzzLife administration and Boardhost accept no liability whatsoever by posts, ideas, opinions, links to external sources, videos, to name a few among the vast amount of content that could be contained in said posts. Therefore, you post it, whatever it may be, you’re responsible for it. Enough said.
Photos, videos, and other content posted should involve men who appear to be of age. Any link/poster that sends images, videos, etc. of those who appear to be below acceptable age will be removed. This results in an instant ban for life
This is designed for male haircutting, and males should be the subject of the haircut. Females should not be the subject of the haircut in posts, photos, and discussions, however, females are free to join and discuss our common interests.
No sexual posts allowed. No political posts allowed.
In terms of common sense, do not post replies to such videos or photos saying things like “sexy handsome man without hair” or “better ####ing shave it next time” or any other suggestive or inappropriate comments. This only does many things. It makes the user remove the video due to being “creeped out” by said comments, look to see where the user found their video (and can see terms searched, such as headshaving, male haircut, and even links from this board). It only brings out a negative view of our community and makes us more noticeable, rather than keeping it quiet. Keeping it quiet is best, it allows us to continue sharing content without people starting to think “will I get creepy people send me stuff”. To sum it up, don’t be a creep on other people’s videos. Saying you look good such as “nice haircut” is acceptable; saying “you look sexy handsome with that new haircut :-*” is unacceptable. I cannot control what you post on other websites, but please keep your true comments to yourself, or as we often see, “This video has been removed by the user” will pop up. Please use proper judgment to keep the videos posted public for all to see and enjoy.
In addition, please try to do your best to provide reference to what content is being presented. The internet is wide, I understand that. But if you are going to post a YouTube link, write a quick thing next to the link (moptop shorn) or reference where you got an image from (i.e., post a link and the image) so we can see it easier if there is problem. Only goes to help us out more!
Be civil on the board. We’re all grown mature (hopefully) men. Let’s keep it mature and civil on here.
Be smart about what you post! If you use proper judgment, it will generally be fine. Just consider these rules before posting.

I tried to make these rules fair and understanding. They are only here to make the best for the continuation of our community. Any comments or problems or suggestions, please message me or post here.
