Thanks for updating the catalog of videos.
This was the summer before I went to college. I had gotten my first buzzcut about 6-7 months prior. It was long, grown out, shaggy. I usually kept it tidy and relatively short. This was very new to me. Since getting my first buzzcut, I had explored a whole bunch of new haircut options. Ended up seeing old pictures of crewcuts, ivy leagues, butches, burrs, etc.
I'm from a small town in the South. There's generally no shortage of barbershops, but a lot of them had something that I wasn't a fan of (vacuum clippers, faced the mirror, lots of female barbers). Growing up I had just gone to chain places. But now, I had stumbled across a tiny hole-in-the-wall shop on the other side of town. No digital footprint, just the sign out front.
I camped out in the parking lot and saw a few older men in the shop. The barber looked to be in his 70s. One chair shop. Door open. So I went in. Waited for a while and saw the older gentlemen get their haircut. Nothing extraordinary. The barber was definitely old and seemed to have lost some of his dexterity, but it did seem he liked to go short.
Eventually it's my turn. He calls me to the chair. Fastens a neck strip and a small burgundy cape. He faces me away from the mirror and grabs the clippers and asks what I would like. "A crewcut for the summer" were my exact words. I figured this would lead him in the direction of fairly short, but nothing too dramatic. "I'll fix you up, son" says the barber. The same clippers he already have on soon go climbing up the back of my head. I see a large clump of hair hit my lap. I can't recall if he had a guard on or not. After clearing off the sides and back with whatever the length he had on, I head him change clippers. Now he has large Osters, but I cannot see the blade. In no time, he is now starting about an inch back from my front hairline and buzzing the rest of my hair on top off. So much hair is falling on my lap and face. He is prompt, but very meticulous. Goes over and over everything. Eventually he starts blending the buzzed sides to the buzzed top.
I can tell that it is all very short, with the exception of the bangs. I recall him taking his scissors and asking me if I wanted much left in the front. In an attempt to save what little I could, I said yes please. He trims the bangs maybe a half an inch, leaving them resting on top of my eyebrow, straight across. He soon edges my neck and over the ears and turns me around. He has what I would now call a buzz with bumper. No blending between the bangs and the rest of the top. The part that is buzzed is very short, much shorter than my #5 buzzcut I had gotten 6 months before.
I pay for the haircut and leave and am stunned. I remember going home and staring at myself in the mirror. Couldn't decide what to do. Later that night I end up buzzing off the bangs with a #2 to match the top, leaving me with practically a high and tight just a few weeks before going off to school.
Video requests: I would love to see any videos not currently on the BarberShop Videos channel on youtube (if you are aware what is there). I specifically love clippers on top, or flattop videos. But once again, thank you for sharing your videos and thanks all for sharing stories!

BuzzLife Rules:
This board is designed to be a destination to discuss male haircuts, from buzzcuts, flattops, bald, and more!
By using this, you accept all liability for your posts and their contents. BuzzLife administration and Boardhost accept no liability whatsoever by posts, ideas, opinions, links to external sources, videos, to name a few among the vast amount of content that could be contained in said posts. Therefore, you post it, whatever it may be, you’re responsible for it. Enough said.
Photos, videos, and other content posted should involve men who appear to be of age. Any link/poster that sends images, videos, etc. of those who appear to be below acceptable age will be removed. This results in an instant ban for life
This is designed for male haircutting, and males should be the subject of the haircut. Females should not be the subject of the haircut in posts, photos, and discussions, however, females are free to join and discuss our common interests.
No sexual posts allowed. No political posts allowed.
In terms of common sense, do not post replies to such videos or photos saying things like “sexy handsome man without hair” or “better ####ing shave it next time” or any other suggestive or inappropriate comments. This only does many things. It makes the user remove the video due to being “creeped out” by said comments, look to see where the user found their video (and can see terms searched, such as headshaving, male haircut, and even links from this board). It only brings out a negative view of our community and makes us more noticeable, rather than keeping it quiet. Keeping it quiet is best, it allows us to continue sharing content without people starting to think “will I get creepy people send me stuff”. To sum it up, don’t be a creep on other people’s videos. Saying you look good such as “nice haircut” is acceptable; saying “you look sexy handsome with that new haircut :-*” is unacceptable. I cannot control what you post on other websites, but please keep your true comments to yourself, or as we often see, “This video has been removed by the user” will pop up. Please use proper judgment to keep the videos posted public for all to see and enjoy.
In addition, please try to do your best to provide reference to what content is being presented. The internet is wide, I understand that. But if you are going to post a YouTube link, write a quick thing next to the link (moptop shorn) or reference where you got an image from (i.e., post a link and the image) so we can see it easier if there is problem. Only goes to help us out more!
Be civil on the board. We’re all grown mature (hopefully) men. Let’s keep it mature and civil on here.
Be smart about what you post! If you use proper judgment, it will generally be fine. Just consider these rules before posting.
Any problems and questions, e-mail me at buzzlifeboard@gmail.com
I tried to make these rules fair and understanding. They are only here to make the best for the continuation of our community. Any comments or problems or suggestions, please message me or post here.
