Hi John,
Have you ever looked into where classmate Willy is now and looks like?
>>No, I have not but I could find him via his parents who still live in my hometown.
And did he attend high school with you as well?
>>No, we went to different schools later on.
If so, did the military haircuts continued into his teenage years?
>>I don't really remember but his hair was always on the short side as long I knew him.
And why did you say it was not his choice of the haircut-did he tell you or you just assumed his parents made him get such short haircuts?
>>He told me a couple of times that he had to abide by haircut rules because his parents wouldn't tolerate longish hair. It was either a clipper cut at the barbershop or a home haircut, which would be more severe. I remember one time when Willy took part in a local Soap Box Derby and at first he wouldn't take off his helmet after the run even though it was a hot summer day. Eventually he did remove the helmet and revealed a very close high & tight his dad had given him the day of or before because he didn't hit the barbershop in time. He was embarrassed about his haircut, which looked fantastic, of course.
What state are you in?
>>I'm currently in CA.
And lastly, you ended your story by saying:
"It took me until my mid-20s before I finally had the courage to walk into an old fashioned barbershop and get rid of my long hair in favor of a military haircut: "I'd like a high & tight, please." What a rush that was..."
Well, don't stop there, and leave us hanging.
>>My first high & tight was at a shop in L.A. which no longer exists as it was back then. The barber was an older Latino guy who had once been a Navy barber from what he told me. When I asked for a high & tight he asked if I had been in the Marines and I told him, "no, but I've always preferred short hair." Which was true although I did not always have short hair. He was happy to oblige and cut the back and sides down to a triple ought - he didn't have the 5-ought blade and didn't do razor shaved H&Ts. Which didn't lessen the thrill and excitement for me. Yes, I got a bit... um... wet in the process and enjoyed my first adult military-style shearing immensely. The barber was pleased, too - "the high & tight really suits you!" he said when he showed me the cut in the mirror. I couldn't stop touching the sandpapery back and sides when I got home - the cut felt awesome!
What year was your first high-and-tight and what was it like for you just before, then during and after your first high-and-tight haircut?
>>Must've been in the early 90s, don't recall the exact year. As for the before, during and after - see above. I was so ready for my first H&T at the time and super excited when it finally happened. When the barber caped me and turn on those Osters, I had a case of dry mouth and the heart beating faster. But then I relaxed a bit and just enjoyed being in the chair and in the hands of a barber who was clearly not afraid of going short.
Was it at the shop you saw Willy at one day? Did Willy ever see your high-and-tight or you later in life?
>>No, it was at a different shop. Willy never saw me high & tight because we were in different cities at that point and had not been in touch for many years.

BuzzLife Rules:
This board is designed to be a destination to discuss male haircuts, from buzzcuts, flattops, bald, and more!
By using this, you accept all liability for your posts and their contents. BuzzLife administration and Boardhost accept no liability whatsoever by posts, ideas, opinions, links to external sources, videos, to name a few among the vast amount of content that could be contained in said posts. Therefore, you post it, whatever it may be, you’re responsible for it. Enough said.
Photos, videos, and other content posted should involve men who appear to be of age. Any link/poster that sends images, videos, etc. of those who appear to be below acceptable age will be removed. This results in an instant ban for life
This is designed for male haircutting, and males should be the subject of the haircut. Females should not be the subject of the haircut in posts, photos, and discussions, however, females are free to join and discuss our common interests.
No sexual posts allowed. No political posts allowed.
In terms of common sense, do not post replies to such videos or photos saying things like “sexy handsome man without hair” or “better ####ing shave it next time” or any other suggestive or inappropriate comments. This only does many things. It makes the user remove the video due to being “creeped out” by said comments, look to see where the user found their video (and can see terms searched, such as headshaving, male haircut, and even links from this board). It only brings out a negative view of our community and makes us more noticeable, rather than keeping it quiet. Keeping it quiet is best, it allows us to continue sharing content without people starting to think “will I get creepy people send me stuff”. To sum it up, don’t be a creep on other people’s videos. Saying you look good such as “nice haircut” is acceptable; saying “you look sexy handsome with that new haircut :-*” is unacceptable. I cannot control what you post on other websites, but please keep your true comments to yourself, or as we often see, “This video has been removed by the user” will pop up. Please use proper judgment to keep the videos posted public for all to see and enjoy.
In addition, please try to do your best to provide reference to what content is being presented. The internet is wide, I understand that. But if you are going to post a YouTube link, write a quick thing next to the link (moptop shorn) or reference where you got an image from (i.e., post a link and the image) so we can see it easier if there is problem. Only goes to help us out more!
Be civil on the board. We’re all grown mature (hopefully) men. Let’s keep it mature and civil on here.
Be smart about what you post! If you use proper judgment, it will generally be fine. Just consider these rules before posting.

I tried to make these rules fair and understanding. They are only here to make the best for the continuation of our community. Any comments or problems or suggestions, please message me or post here.
