Another book I read whilst travelling was Deborah Cadbury's "Princes at War", which I thoroughly enjoyed. It is well written, well researched, well referenced and quite compelling. One sees how a frightened, unprepared prince unexpectantly becomes not just a king but a great wartime king, whilst I also learnt more about the Duke of Gloucester whose support for his brother has been, over time forgotten. I have never held the Duke of Windsor in much esteem but having read this book and seen how he behaved during the war has shown, for me, how contemptible and self-centred the man was. Well worth reading.
