There is not much known about Charlotte Tiedemann, but she seems to be cast in
the role of the evil spirit, some royal authors call her "disreputable" and it seems to be a wee bit of a case of the "the Prince and the showgirl".
Of course, the whole story is overlapped by the so-called Legitimist's claims on the throne of France and the impact on the present claimant Louis Alphonse of Bourbon, Duke of Anjou. Therefore, her title is in dispute: is the really the Duchess of Segovia when the first marriage of Don Jaime was never dissolved in Spain which did not recognize at the time civil law divorces and therefore treated Emmanuela de Dampierre, Don Jaime's first wife, as the rightful duchess of Segovia, even though she and Don Jaime divorced and remarried, but not canonically.
I am sure that the arguments for and against will fly freely on this again.
But this is not the intention of this posting, but merely to make readers aware of this publication and one has the opportunity to learn more about the life of this more or less forgotten lady who shared the life of Don Jaime for nearly 30 years.
