If Shane had been the beneficiary of good management I think he could have had an amazing solo career and enjoyed it. He had the voice and the looks but he needed someone to market that. Decca didn't know how to promote him. Folk was dead and somehow they couldn't envision him as a pop crooner. He did always say, tho, that he preferred singing with other voices.
