Re: Happy New Year!
Dave formed the Whiskey Hill Singers as an outlet for his lofty musical goals that were unattainable with the Trio. Ultimately he regretted his decision, realizing too late that there was no where near the commercial acceptance of the WHS that the Trio enjoyed. The record-buying public was more aligned with the Trio's accessible musical approach which was copied on every college campus to greater or lesser extent. And even tho Shane and Reynolds eschewed the label "folk singers" they pretty much opened the door for the general population to participate in that genre. And keeping it simple and having fun was a huge component in that success. Who needs diminished chords anyway?
