Hey Mark - the article you saw was pertaining to a show I put together for a local theater in 2018. It was billed as "Spotlight on The Kingston Trio" and was one of many "Spotlight" shows produced by that theater. (Billy Joel, The Eagles, Peter, Paul & Mary, etc.) This was before the Marvinettes called me out to take Josh's place. Marvin do see that I was doing this show and registered an objection but nothing ever came of his threat to bar us from doing it. It was a month after that show closed that he called me about joining him and Tim. FYI, we've rebranded the show as "Tales & Tunes of The Kingston Trio" and if you go to my homepage you can read our promo blurb. We've just finished a video and I think I can post a link to that shortly. Yes, I think we sound at least as good as the Marvinettes, but our show is very different. We do not pretend to be the KT - we present a full two-hours of KT hits strung together with stories about the group's rise to success from '57 thru '67. I credit Bill Bush with a lot of my source material for the script (which I wrote). |
