Yes indeed! Altho that banjo (Vega Tubafone c. 1928) rarely goes out of the house anymore. I bought it back in the 1950’s after my dad saw the ad in the local paper. I paid the lady $150 in hard-earned paper route money and I suspect it’s worth over $3000 at this point. I still do some plectrum songs in our show but I use my Deering Vega #2 5-string. To mute the 5th string I stuck a little square of male Velcro on the heal and wrap a strip of female Velcro around the string and hook it up with its male partner. Velcro sex right on stage! So far I haven’t been busted for that (or for playing the banjo at all). I recently inherited an Ode plectrum that we use in our Kingston Trio tribute show now. Ala Bob Shane, we tune it to guitar tuning (D - G - B - E). Actual plectrum tuning is C - G - B - D.
