I, like many here, have done some singing with Bob. I assure you, he can hit and sustain a note just fine. I haven't been able to see him for a few years, but from video and talking to him on the phone, I believe his voice is even stronger now than it was then.
I never saw a George/Bill/Rick show. As far as their departure-that's the business of those involved. For me, Shane was the deal, and I pretty much bailed after he retired. I do believe the former group were as good a set of technical musicians as ever wore the stripes. This current iteration(Don and Paul excluded) do not have the vocals, the instrumental chops, the theory, or Bob Shane. What's left?
By your logic, maybe Shane should just hire several groups to tour under the name at the same time? Maximize revenue while there are still fans on this side of the grass. It seems it doesn't matter who fills the striped shirts or their talent level.
PS-I'm not jumping on you. You said your piece, and I see nothing unfair in a rebuttal.
