All my life's a circle...

OK - this is what I know. I got a call from Mike Marvin on Friday. At the time he called I was at my day job teaching special needs K thru 2nd grade kids. I didn't get his voice mail until I got home from school around 4:00. Mike didn't leave a phone number with his VM so I called Rick to see if he had it. He responded something like "hardy-har-har." Suggested a couple other sources that were dead ends. Finally got a voice mail from Paul Gabrielson who left me Mike's number. Called Mike and he told me that Josh had quit the Trio and they needed a replacement - was I interested? Well, by the time I got back to him he had already booked this Don from the Limes to do Saturday (yesterday) in Maine and another show today (Sunday). Was I willing to come out to finish the tour starting this Wed.? Well, the money's good and it beats wiping poop off of a special need's kids rear for $12.00/hr., so I said "yes". Irony #1 - I just finished a 3-week run at a local theater called "Spotlight on The Kingston Trio", a show I put together telling the history of the group interspersed with 26 songs. I wrote the script, hired to guys to sing with me plus an excellent bass player, wrote all the musical arrangements and we sold out 12 shows. This group was a joy to sing with. Now I'm off to sing with 2 guys I've only met once and I don't have a clue if we'll even click. But the money's good, so... Now - Irony #2 - I spent 20 years off and on essentially replacing Nick Reynolds in the Trio. So now I'm going to replace his son. How weird is that? OK - I have to go see if I remember how to pack my suitcase after 13 years of storing it in the attic. Check back here for updates on this hilarity! Folk in "A" mon!
