Here's the weird thing. I've been told that the street price of a new Deering longneck (nee the Pete Seeger model) is about $4,000. The prices of used original Vega PS-5s seem lower. For example, Elderly currently has two for $3.350 and $3.700 and Fred Oster has two for $2,500 (Vega by Martin) and $3,900. (I think a cash offer might get one of those used ones for less than the asking price). All in all, that seems to make one of the original PS-5s a better buy than a new Deering.
Bob, how do you tune your seven-string banjo? That sounds like a very cool instrument. I love the stories about the capo and mute for that baby.
