By the way, I met a guy here in Medford named Rich Scheffel. I went to Finch grade school in Spokane with his sister, Joy. Rich is (was) best friends with Larry Groshoff. I don't know if you ever knew Katy Groshoff. She was also in my grade school classes. A former student of Dutch's put me back in touch with Katy and we've been corresponding.
This former student, by the way, had, with Dutch's permission, reproduced and duplicated copies of Dutch's old chord chart/music theory compendium. I still have my original, tho it's ragged and faded somewhat.
I have a solution for that problem of eliminating your 5th string to play plectrum. Velcro. Get some of that stuff with the sticky back and attach a small square of the male velcro to the 5th-string side of the heal. Cut a strip of female velcro about 2-1/2 inches long. To mute the 5th string wrap the female velcro strip around the string and attach it to the male velcro. All you get out of the 5th string when you strum is a fairly innocuous "thunk."
