We've worked with Tom many times over the years and once we had him join us for "Last Thing On My Mind", a song that he wrote and the Trio recorded. It was fun simply because of who he is. But there is a chemistry involved in ensemble work and it requires that the voices and instruments blend together to create an identifiable and cohesive sound. Tom has a unique voice that works in a solo context but not so well in a group. However, Tom played at Swallow Hill in Denver a few years ago and he invited me and Harry Tuft to join him on "Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound". With Tom on lead and Harry and me on harmony I thought we sounded pretty good as a group, especially since we'd never rehearsed. Now I'm gonna throw an F bomb here: to be perfectly honest I never really felt that Stewart was a good vocal fit for the Kingston Trio. I'll let y'all chew on that one for awhile.
