I also remember talk after that get-together regarding Dave's (at that time) current interest in digital music. He was very much attached to a midi-guitar that he insisted on playing should these reunion shows come to fruition. I don't think Bob was particularly in favor of that.

Bob Shane has always been a strictly acoustic guy. I remember when I first invested in wireless technology and I brought it on the road once to a sit-down gig we had in Reno. I had my banjo wired up with a wireless pick-up and for my solo in the show I played this banjo medley and walked out into the audience as I was playing. The audience seemed to go for it - it was kinda gimmicky I guess. And even tho Bob could see the entertainment value in what I was doing, he still was pretty much in favor of playing acoustic instruments into microphones. To my knowledge he doesn't own a single guitar with any sort of pick-up or built-in amplification capability.

Obviously, the reunion with Dave and Nick never materialized and that was the only time I met Dave. He was very friendly and I wish I'd had a chance to spend more time with him. He wrote his phone number on a drink coaster for me and I've kept that as memento of our one and only meeting.
