I, too, have disengaged myself from that site, as over the years it has been dominated occasionally by a few wanna-be's and hangers-on (cling-ons, as we used to call them) who think they know the inside story. It seems that for some, meeting Bob Shane or any other "original" member of the group, entitles you to membership in some mystical insider's club. Whatever!
As for the group, I've had the pleasure of meeting, and in the case of Bob Shane, getting to know quite well, each of the so-called "original" members. Let me assure you that to a man, Shane, Reynolds, Guard and Stewart are (or were) men of quality, both professionally and personally. I was always treated well by them and I consider it an honor to have known them and worked with most of them (all but Dave.)
The joke about a so-called "requirement" was just that - a joke. My gosh - we've all had some fun in our lives - it was a goofy statement that probably should have been worded differently or suffixed with that stupid LOL and a typed-in happy-face.
So I implore you - please don't put any blame for recent goings on at Crossroads on The Kingston Trio. I have always been treated fairly by those guys. Maybe the fans can take issue with me and I don't care about that. And please - take the joke for what it was. LOL
