Wanted to drop you a note to tell you I’ve listened to the Kingston Trio my whole life (I think we are about the same age). I started listening on an AM radio back in the sixties when I was running emergency oil field parts to drilling rigs in my old hot rod out of Amarillo. The faster I got the parts to the rigs the more money I made……...I knew every cop in three states and every highway patrol on Rt. 66. Back in those days if you could out run them they couldn’t stop you if they seen you again…….
When I moved up in the world and got an eight track player I think one of the first eight tracks I got was of the Kingston Trio…….and then on a cassette player and now on a CD/DVD/AM/FM/Sirius/thumb drive player…….It has a map in it also but I turned it off; I’ve been traveling the Rockies and the western US for over forty years and the last thing I need is a dang woman telling me where to drive my truck interrupting my music; she’s wrong half the time anyway.
I’m not a musician or entertainer of any sort, and to be honest had no idea who you were. I ran across your name reading about Forrest Fenn’s treasure. I like your songs by the way. I’ve been looking for the treasure for a few years now; I work in the Rockies anyway so why not see if I can chase down that chest of gold.
I’ve worked with computers for many years but have never posted anything on the web before getting involved with the treasure hunt. I’ve always thought folks that wrote stuff on these message boards needed to get a life…….My wife pushed me to start posting stuff to get me out of my shell……I don’t usually talk much. I’ve warmed up to the idea; and I’ve made some new friends and met some nice folks since I stated posting…..I do find it truly amazing that the web allows just a regular guy like me a chance to talk to someone famous like you.
In a previous post you were asking if someone could give you some help with your site. I have a little spare time and I’m willing to give you a hand. If you want a reference you can contact Dal Neitzel of dalneitzel.com; he has a site about Fenn’s treasure; I rebuilt it from the ground up this summer, and those are my pictures he uses in his header. We recently had a falling out over something Fenn wrote; I call it the great useless clue debacle……..I just couldn’t let Fenn get away with saying that…….But hey, I’m not claiming to be easy to get along with, but I am good with computers (it’s what I do for a living)…… So if you want a pickup driving, gun toting, conservative, high tech redneck from Texas that lives in California to help with your site let me know.
Wishing you a happy and prosperous New Year.
