While it isn't pleasant, we must face the fact that great and talented people we admire are facing mortality, and it's up to us to note and remember them. In a world where is seems only flash and beauty can leave a legacy, the troubadours, poets and heirs to a simpler day might otherwise be overlooked.

Mike Seeger indeed made a lasting contribution to great music and our national heritage that relatively few people will know or acknowledge. Another good guy, to be sure!
