HEADIN'FOR THE HILLS has not been published in the John Stewart Lyrics Database which Art Faller, Charlie Woodward and Jan Hauenstein have assembled. I once ask Art Faller if he thought this song was written by John and he told me he did not believe he wrote it. This was before I asked John about it. While John claimed it I felt his answer was evasive.
The song does not sound like a John Stewart song nor does it fit the patterns of his other writings. Of course the only example I know of is off The Limeliters 1961 album TONIGHT: IN PERSON and they did it totally in the Limeliter style. Had John actually recorded it it may have sounded like something he wrote.
