What Happens Next Part 7
Last Time:
Bo quietly snuck into the bedroom. He smiled at Nora who was sound asleep. He took a quick shower and crawled into bed with the love of his life. Nora instinctively rolled over and into his arms, never waking. Bo relished the feeling. Never again would he let her go. He kissed the top of her head. It took a couple of minutes before Nora woke. She smiled at Bo. "I didn't think I'd see you tonight."
Bo kissed her softly. "I didn’t think so either. But I needed a little sleep and I didn't want to do that alone."
"I'm glad." Nora fell back to sleep.
"Me too." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nora stretched as the sun peeked through the window. She smiled as she reached behind her - expecting to find Bo sleeping next to her. His side of the bed was empty and cool. She rolled over and in his place Nora found a rose and a note. I wish I was there with you but I will be soon. Miss you already. Love you to the moon and back. Nora smiled and kissed the note. She got up and wrapped her robe around herself.
She walked into the dining room to see Renee and Nigel talking. Renee looked over and smiled. "So how did you sleep?"
"Wonderfully. You know how to pamper a girl. I may never leave."
"Mrs. Buchanan….may I bring you some breakfast?"
"Nigel, I would love a cup of your delicious coffee. I know I shouldn't have the caffeine but I can't resist. And maybe some eggs. And some toast. Oh…and maybe some bacon?" Renee chuckled as Nora smiled. "I'm eating for two you know."
"It will be my pleasure Mrs. Buchanan."
"Did I hear Bo come in last night?"
Nora nodded. "He came to get a couple hours of sleep. He's already gone but it was nice to sleep in his arms."
"Did he have any news?"
"No. I'm hoping to dig up some information today. I'm going to go into my office to see I can find anything in my files that relates to either the LaSalle family or Paul Ramirez."
"Not alone you're not." Both the women looked up as Asa came into the room. "I've assigned a bodyguard to you."
"Asa…that is not necessary. I'll just be at my office. I'll be perfectly safe."
"Doesn't matter. I talked to Bo about this already and he's on board. Besides I promised him to protect you with my life. I can't guard you myself but I can hire people who can."
Nora stood up and kissed Asa on the cheek. "Thank you Asa."
Asa wrapped an arm around her. "Honey, you know I love you as a daughter. I don't want anything to happen to you or the baby."
"I love you too Asa. This baby will be lucky to have you as a grandpa."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A couple hours later, Nora walked into her office followed by her bodyguard. Nora turned to him "Why don't you just wait in the lobby. That way you can check anyone that comes in or out. I'm not expecting any clients so it should be quiet." The bodyguard nodded and made himself comfortable.
Nora's secretary Jill looked up from her typing. "What's going on boss? I wasn't expecting you today."
"I really didn't plan on coming in but I want to do some research for Bo on my stalker. He and Asa insisted on a bodyguard so..." Nora pointed her head in the bodyguard's direction.
"Well at least he's cute."
Nora laughed. "I'm glad I could make your day a little more pleasant. His name is Chris and he's single. He seemed very nice when he drove me in." Both women took another look in Chris's direction. " You should offer him some coffee. I'll be in my office."
Nora sat down at her desk and powered up her computer. She started with some basic searches on client names, people on the other side of her cases, opposing counsel, anything that would be in an electronic record. She came up blank. She knew she would have to start going through her case files by hand. She decided to be somewhat methodical with her initial search…focusing initially on any cases with any sort of relationship to Detroit since that was where the LaSalle family started their operation.
Nora started poring over some of her case files. She was on her fourth file when there was a knock at the door. "Come in."
Will "The Turd" Rappaport stuck his head in. "Hey boss. Just thought I would let you know I'm here. What's with the goon in the lobby?"
"That goon as you call him is my bodyguard. Bo and Asa are being protective."
"Maybe a little overprotective? He gave me a pretty good pat down."
Nora shrugged. "He was just doing his job."
"So what are you up to?"
"I'm looking through some old files to see if there is some connection to my mugging. So far I'm coming up empty."
"Do you need some help?"
Nora nodded. "Sure. I could use a pair of fresh eyes. I'm looking for any sort of connection to Paul Ramirez or LaSalle family in Detroit."
Will looked up from the file he was glancing at. "I know a Scott LaSalle. I think he said that he was from Detroit. Though I'm not positive."
"How in the world….?"
"He was Dad's roommate in college. They were really tight. I know they still keep in touch."
"Your father knows someone in the LaSalle mob family?"
"Mob? I don't think so. All I know is that his last name was LaSalle and I think he is from Detroit."
Nora handed Will a stack of files. "Take these to your office and let me know what you find." As soon as Will left, Nora picked up her phone to call Bo. She got his answering service. "Bo…it's me. I think I have the connection we're looking for. Meet me at Asa's as soon as you get this message. I'm heading there now."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nora walked into the house and almost into Asa. "Asa….is Bo here yet?"
"I don't think so. What would he be doing here?"
"I think I have a lead on my stalker."
"What kind of lead?"
"Sam was a college roommate with a Scott Lasalle. They're the mob family that that my stalker worked for."
"That low down Rappascum. I should have killed him the first time I…."
"The first time what Asa?"
Both Nora and Asa spun around at the voice. "Sam."
