What Happens Next - Part 6
Last time:
Bo took Nora's hand in his and opened the door to the study door. Asa was sitting behind the desk. Without even looking up he bellowed "So what's this huge favor you need boy?" As he raised his head from his work he saw Nora and Bo standing there. A huge smile came to his face. "Is this what I think it is?"
Both Bo and Nora nodded. Asa got up and pulled them both into an embrace. "You have made this old man happier than he has been in a long while."
"We're pretty happy too Pa. But there is a favor."
"Anything."
"I need Nora to stay here for a while. It seems like her stalker broke into the house yesterday. I just don't want her to be alone when I can't be with her."
"You need to find the SOB that's doing this. If I find him first…."
"Pa…I don't need you to do anything more than keep Nora and the baby safe."
"I will protect them with my life."

Renee handed Nora her pajamas out of the suitcase. "So you and Bo huh?"
Nora smiled softly. "Yep...me and Bo." Nora kept unpacking.
"What? You're not going to give me any details? Do I need to get Asa up here?"
Nora chuckled as she put some clothes into the dresser. "Bo came over after the mugging to check on me. He was worried about me and the baby. He convinced me to go away with him because he thought I was in danger. We talked...a lot. He told me that he wants to raise the baby as his own."
Renee smiled. "I can't believe it. Well maybe I can. Bo loves you so much." Nora nodded. "He is such a good man."
"We're going to do some counseling. Maybe talk with Andrew. I know we can make it. I love him so much."
"I'm so happy for you guys. And Asa? He's over the moon."
Nora laughed. "Anything to make Asa happy. Now we just have to figure out what's going on with the mugging."
"Does Bo have any clues?"
"Not really. Hopefully he will have news later. Until then I hang out with you and Asa."
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bo took a sip of his coffee as he walked around the living room of the barn. He noticed that pictures of him and Nora were placed facedown or were thrown on the floor. Flowers that had been on the mantel were tipped over. Papers that Nora was obviously working on were strewn everywhere. The scene was similar in the bedroom. Dresser drawers were open, clothing tossed about. Bo just shook his head, trying to figure things out.
"So buddy…what do you make of this."
Bo turned towards the door as Hank walked into the bedroom. "I don't have a clue. Sure, it looks like someone was here and made a mess. But as far as I can tell, nothing is missing. Nora's jewelry is all here. All of her electronics are here. We had some old phones downstairs that they didn't touch."
"So you're pretty sure it wasn't a robbery?"
"I don't think so. At least not in the conventional sense."
"What do you mean?"
"I think it was staged to rob Nora of her sense of security. Make sure she didn't feel safe here."
"Same guy that mugged her?"
Bo shrugged. "I would assume so. But I just can't figure out why."
"Does Nora have any connection with the LaSalle family? Maybe a former client?"
"She's going to check on that but nothing rang a bell for her. She has a pretty sharp memory when it comes to her clients."
Hank looked around the room. "So you and Nora huh?" Bo smiled and ignored his best friend. "Oh come on. Tell me what's going on."
"We're good. We're really, really good. I love her so much that I'm willing to do anything to make it perfect again."
"I'm happy for you guys. You deserve it."
"I'm heading back to the station. See what the CSI team found. Maybe make some calls to the FBI to see what they know about these creeps."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Later Bo was on the phone. "So Scott…you know of no connection of the LaSalle family and Llanview?"
"I'm sorry Bo. There is nothing indicating that they are setting up territory anywhere near you. So while Ramirez is a LaSalle associate, he may not be working for them in this case."
Bo shook his head. "It's just not making any sense. But thanks for the insight Scott."
"Not a problem Bo. If there's anything else I can do, please call. I can't even imagine what you guys are going through."
"Thanks Scott. I'll call if something comes up." There was a knock on the door and John walked in. "What do you have for me John?"
"I wish I had better news. CSI didn't find anything that shouldn’t be there. The prints we lifted were all people that had reason to be there. They didn't find any stray fibers or dirt. Nothing out of order."
"Damn. I guess I was hoping that we'd find a lead."
"They're still combing through stuff but they don't have too much faith that they'll find anything. I'm sorry Bo. I wish I had better news."
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bo quietly snuck into the bedroom. He smiled at Nora who was sound asleep. He took a quick shower and crawled into bed with the love of his life. Nora instinctively rolled over and into his arms, never waking. Bo relished the feeling. Never again would he let her go. He kissed the top of her head. It took a couple of minutes before Nora woke. She smiled at Bo. "I didn't think I'd see you tonight."
Bo kissed her softly. "I didn’t think so either. But I needed a little sleep and I didn't want to do that alone."
"I'm glad." Nora fell back to sleep.
"Me too."
