In the poem, Nora is the producer of a game show, one I hope you are all familiar with, in which 3 men are questioned by a female contestant. She questions them, sight unseen, then one of them is selected by the contestant to go on a date with her.
I admit...this is not my usual style, and I'm embarrassed by the quality (no wonder I'm done first ); but it was kind of fun. Lol
Hope you enjoy it. (And, yes, I have a strange sense of humor. )
The Night Before The Dating Game
(to the poem The Night Before Christmas)
Twas the night before The Dating Game
when Nora lined up the guys.
She told them to select their suits,
and choose their socks and ties.
Their suits were then hung
in their closets with care
while their shoes were left out
with their socks by a chair.
The fellows then nestled
all snug in their beds
while visions of a pretty girl
danced in their heads.
And Nora, in her bathrobe
with a nightcap in hand,
smiled as she thought
of the thing she had planned.
When the morning light came
they arose for the show
Nora and Cord
sweet Nigel and Bo.
Away to the studio
they flew like a flash
Sweet Nigel so nervous
he developed a rash.
Stage lights on the breasts
of the contestant so blonde
glowed like her smile
as she heard them respond.
“Now Bachelor Number One”
“Now Bachelor Number Two”
“Now Bachelor Number Three”...
she queried...
And Bo, hearing her
familiar voice
became a little worried.
To the sound of her voice
To the sound of her laughs
He knew it was Lindsay
now he must save his…(derriere)
And then in a twinkling
Bo heard Nigel respond
Nigel scratched his rash nervously
as he answered the blonde.
And as Bo and Cord
were turning around
they saw love on the face
of sweet Nigel abound
They spoke not a word
but went straight to their chore
of helping sweet Nigel
win the old…(um...woman?)
Nigel’s eyes, how they twinkled
his dimples, how merry
his cheeks were like posies,
his nose like a berry.
His cute little mouth
was drawn up like a bow
and hearing the blonde
just made his face glow.
The stump of his fist
he held tight in his teeth
and the hearts they encircled
his head like a wreath.
He had a b-r-o-a-d smile
and a round little belly
and his nervousness made
his feet a bit smelly.
He was chubby and plump
a right jolly old mate
Bo and Cord found it painful
to thus seal his fate.
But a wink of Bo’s eye
and a twist of Cord’s head
soon gave Nigel to know
he had nothing to dread.
They answered her questions
in ways she would hate
giving Nigel the edge in
winning the date.
And laying a finger
aside of her nose
she said, “Bachelor Number Two”
sweet Nigel she chose!!!
He sprang from his seat
to Lindsay gave a whistle
Pulled her in for a kiss
making her bristle.
And they her exclaim
as he escorted her out
“I’ll get you for this, Nora
of that have no doubt!!!”
