The cats were all laid back and friendly: two orange, one white, two tigers, and several black & white. Most were sleeping & were OK with heavy petting as long as they weren't picked up. |
The women in charge were friendly, helpful young women sporting numerous nose piercings and some brightly dyed hair. The café staff, also friendly & helpful, were more wholesome looking.
The separate café had lots of colorful macaroons, some shaped like cat faces. They had other cookies and an oreo-type cookie shaped like a cat's head.
There was a thin notebook of "Alumni" and a thicker book of cats still available from Kitty Kind.
The Parlor is situated out where God lost his shoes: a poorer neighborhood somewhere between the lower east side and Chinatown. It was full of young couples. No one adopted while I was there.
I think they are missing a bet. They were flooded with cat lovers who weren't connecting with the resident cats. I know they want to showcase the older, overlooked cats, but if they threw a few kittens or calicos in the mix, they would have more adoptions. And we all know there are kittens & breed cats dying for homes.
