Thanks for the compliment on my heeling! |
-Why do u do IPo?
We do IPO because we feel it is an excellent test of character, drive, temperament and ability in working dogs. Our main goal is to produce bandogges for ourselves that are solid enough to meet the tasks that are asked of them while working in the drive they are asked to work in even though it may not be the most natural for them. We also want dogs that can handle the pressure that both the handler and the helper need to put on them in order to get our desired results. To be honest I love that there are so many standards, critiques and rules in IPO I like to be pushed to obtain excellence and to always strive for perfection.
-What was your mindset in teaching him such focus?
Ive always been an OB freak lol! I love to have a dog that will give me his full focus unless I say otherwise. I also like a dog that can take a good amount of pressure from the handler without changing his character or drive for the work.
-Also your traffic test u said he is social with non threatening strangers. Perfect!!!! So important. An aggressive dog to strangers unless trained to do so is 100% garbage and shows extreme bad nerves. Indifferent is ok. So for all you natural PP dog fan, sorry. Note, I am not talking territorial aggression.
I couldnt agree more. A balanced dog is what you want. We want a dog that is stable and trustworthy in any public setting and will only turn on when told to fire up. And actually our dogs are very territorial at home, but when introduced and brought in by us, again friendly strangers are welcome. . . come onto our property on your own and its a different story.
-See this video is 1000x more impressive than a dog going into prey frenzy on a posted handler.
Thanks I agree here 100% again, showing that a dog has what it takes to do multiple different tasks in drives that may not be natural to them is the most impressive.
We look forward to our journey through Sch/IPO, it will now always be a part of our life and something we have really come to love. Our program will always be based on working ability #1 and creating dogs for us, dogs that we enjoy working and owning. We also plan to do more suit work, muzzle work, hidden sleeve work etc after our IPO1. There is a trial in October that we are hoping we will be ready for our 1 for. We will continue to post our progress ļ
