For instance, I would make sure every AB could catch and hold a wild hog, and then see if it could do bitework. If it could not do the catching, I would personally not care if it did the bitework, because to me it's not a bulldog. I would not breed it. I would expect it to do basic protection dog tests if it were proven to be a bulldog by catch work, but not necessarily something more geared for the traits of herders.
