There are plenty of purebred mals and dutchies in Holland, but those are not really viewed as the better working dogs in Holland, the Belgian NVBK lines are pretty rock solid for the most part. Many people are competing in major sports with the Belgian dogs. The French and Germans have their own types as well. I personally like the NVBK and the KNPV types the best for what I like in a dog.
I dont really care about purity that much personally at all, so doesnt matter to me if I get papered dogs, since I dont compete seriously in anything.
I have 2 dutch dogs now, and like them alot. 1 ds(x) and 1 mal(x).
Paper hanging goes on for sure, but it is not usually done so much so they can compete or get bigger money out of the dogs I dont think, some I am sure, but I believe that the main reason it is done is to infuse some of the better KNPV type dogs into the closed genepools of the FCI dogs, and it is done with the dutchies on a small scale as well as the mals.
The knpv dogs are just that knpv dogs, mals or dutchies basically the same thing, just different color patterns...very few of them actually have long sport careers most are sold after they get the PH1 certificates. People that are interested in the KNPV dogs are not usually interested in the papers anyhow.
I had a chance to get my Dutchie(x) into the UKC for a while there, but didnt even bother.
here is my DS(x) pedigree. There are mal(x)in there, and cant prove it but I pretty fukking sure there is some bull terrier and probably gsd in there somewhere LOL.
