I love playing with dogs. love chasing them, being chased. Playing with them as a nother dog would, and the funnist game i now to do with them is the play fight.
I curl my hand into a little snapping jaw and i get the dog exited, the play is just a play i think i can see this very clearly, it does get quite intense however.
I remember one time i played with my sisters border collie, she had always been somewhat reluctant to engage but i got her to be veeery interested in the game. One session stands out becouse i got bit.(duh)...
We had been playing, upping the intesity untill she smiled and with a kind off happy ecited expression all over her face she dug into my stomach and bit me( i had her in a body lock from my back on the ground).
Now i did not get one bit uppset or angry att her. It was all play and the logical next step to happen.
However the line off what i considerd funny had been crossed.
My question is can i keep the playfighting att an ok level or is this type off thing something that is just bad latin?
The sister whanted, and succeded with the removal off the dogs tendancies to play fight and i never encuriged it again, thinking the dog transfered my play to all play with humans.
Question is. Under what circumstansed can i play fight a dog i otherwise whant to be a good behaving k9 citizen?
Offcourse im in controll and stop the play when i whant, but am i setting sombody elles upp for the rough play, or are dogs able to differ between people?
I have an sneaking suspition im being stoopid here, but i ( and the dogs) just love the funn off it..
Can it be done "right" ?
Since i se a lot off arguing over post off what i consider whell trained dogs, it might be refreshing helping a TOTAL newb out ?
Just to clearify. I play with the dogs in play mood, would not extract from their defence, territoral psykology or anything serius, but i guess even play is serius iff the dogs end upp taking lessons i didt whant to give from it.
What would these lessons be in your opinion?
Dont u ever play this whay with our dogs?
