In my research/refresher I noticed the landscape of CTYFL has had major changes. I just wanted to address some of these changes and give you a kind of state of the union post. So, let’s jump right on into what I have discovered. Also, if I missed something let us know.
Spring Round Up:
From what I can tell this past Spring Season was an interesting one. I saw multiple weekends where cancelled, and some questionable actions being done by some certain teams. In the end Unity won the Varsity and Senior Championship, Cedar Creek won the Junior Championship, Georgetown won the Rookie Championships and Bastrop took the Pee Wee Championship.
Fall of the Kings:
Faith Academy will not be playing football anymore. Which is surprising as they came in on top and left on top. They end their dynasty with an overall tackle record of 31 wins and 3 losses. They scored an even 1000 points overall and only gave up 104 points in 34 games. WOW! CTYFL can give a sigh of relieve for not having to play such a dominate team.
Running for their lives:
Jarrell has left CTYFL to join HCYFL. Which is no surprise as they struggle to match up with CTYFL. They leave after 1 season with an overall tackle record 3 wins and 27 losses. They put up 229 points and gave up 801. Most of the points they scored came from Pee Wee tackle. They didn’t put up much of a fight and could be looked like an easy bye week game. Good Luck to them and I hope they find success in HCYFL against lesser competition.
Eagles Fly the Coop:
It was announced in the Spring Season that Cedar Creek will be folding due to lack of people wanting to step up to run the organization. The Eagles leave with an overall tackle record of 16 wins and 76 losses. They scored 645 points overall and gave up 2301 points. To say the least they weren’t dominating. Their best team was last season Juniors who finished 5-3. This was the only team to have a winning record. I wish we could have seen what this year would have brought us and if they could build off their success. Cedar Creek at least closed their door winning the CTYFL Spring Junior Flag Division.
North Austin a Force to be Reckon With:
It’s been a journey for the North Austin Organization. When I started with CTYFL they where the Town and Country Warriors then moved to McNeil and became the North Austin Unity…I mean North Austin Mavericks. Sorry I had to make at least 1 more joke about it. Now they have moved again to Pflugerville to become the Pflugerville Force!! I hope this all works out for them and they rebuild the program to become a stronger one.
SAO Gets Stung:
One of my insiders are claiming that SAO has been MIA since August 2022. The Scorpions have not posted anything about football since then. I will go ahead and assume that SAO has closed its door for good. SAO finishes with a overall tackle record of 75 wins and 104 loses since 2015. SAO was a hit and miss team and the fan base had a great presence on the smack board. Hopefully these rumors are false but until there is signs of life from them I will count them out.
Un-united with CTYFL:
Wow where to begin with the Unity Issue. I could probably write a novel on the Unity/CTYFL breakup. Unity had 1 season with 4 wins and 4 loses. They scored 120 points and gave up 123 points. I am not going to into the details about it but toxic people in the wrong position seems to be the case both on the side of Unity and on the side of at least 3 organizations within CTYFL.
We are so close to the season yet so far away. If you have any news that I missed please let us know.
