Bastrop – Last Season the Bears finished 5-3 and ranked 3. On average Bastrop finishes 5-2 and ranked 3. Bastrop has been contending for a final 4 spot since 2016. The only losing season I have for them is 2015. I believe they could maintain this momentum as a contender.
Cedar Creek – Cedar Creek has not fielded a Pee Wee team. Until they do, I don’t even have them in the conversation of a final 4 spot.
Del Valle – Researching Del Valle and trying to come up with an honest opinion about them is tough. Do I base it off the Pee Wee flag team from spring and assume most those kids are tackle kids? I’ll give them the benefit of a doubt and see them as a true bubble team. It’s a stretch but let’s see what happens and if they field a team, I will say yes to being a bubble team but this might be a stretch.
East Austin - The Panthers come from TYFA and TYFA doesn’t have a Pee Wee tackle division. So, this will be their first opportunity to field a team. As I did my research, I don’t feel that the Panthers will be competitive at this level.
Elgin – The Wildcats have not fielded a team since 2019. I hope they can field a team because if you look at their average season, they finish 5-3 and ranked 3. The only issue I see is them fielding a team. If they do, I would see them as contenders/bubble team.
Georgetown – Last season the Texans finished 4-4 and ranked 4. On average Georgetown finishes 3-5 and ranked 5. Georgetown is a hit and miss team. It’s hard to gauge how they will perform as the foundation looks weak. I feel they have a small chance to contend for a final 4 spot.
Hutto – Last season Hutto finished 2-5 and ranked 6. On average they finish 3-5 and ranked 4. I believe Hutto is starting to trend up and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are in the mix this season.
Jarrell – If there is a tackle division, they could contend in it would be the Pee Wee division. This is always a fun to watch as you never know what you are going to get. I wouldn’t be surprised if they at least contend for a final 4 spot. Mark them as a bubble team.
Kyle – Last season Kyle fielded 2 team that finished ranked 2 and dead last at 7. On average the Invaders finishes 3-5 and ranked 5. If Kyle can maintain the momentum that Kyle Red had last season they will be contending again. I have them down as a bubble team.
Leander – They have not fielded a Pee Wee yet. This division is always wide open, and I can see them contending but until they do, I won’t even consider them. Why is that? In my opinion, Leander only focuses on having a Junior and Senior tackle teams.
North Austin – The Mavericks have not fielded a Pee Wee team since their Town and Country days way back in 2015. North Austin seems to be on their last leg, and I don’t expect them to field a team.
Round Rock – The Tigers haven’t fielded a team since 2019. On average Round Rock finishes 3-5 and ranked 5. Even though The Tigers averages are low, they seem to be contending every season. I don’t think this will continue, and I don’t think they will field a team.
SAO – The Scorpions have not fielded a team since 2020. On average SAO finishes 2-5 and ranked 5. SAO is another organization that seems to be struggling to field teams. I wouldn’t consider them a contender until they field a team.
Unity – Last Season Unity was in TYFA and their age grouping is different from CTYFL. Unity did field a Tykes division which is 6-7 year olds that went 2-6. They only scored 58 points all season and gave up 240. Since Pee Wee tackle is always better the second year I could see them fighting for a spot in the Final 4. If that makes sense,
To conclude the Pee Wee tackle division, I have Bastrop, Del Valle, Elgin, Georgetown, Hutto, Jarrell, Kyle and Unity as contenders/bubble teams. Once I get my hands on an official schedule to see who has teams then I post my pre-season Final 4 predictions along with week 1 predictions!!
