Three people in the Bible are recorded as figuratively consuming God's words. The first to do so is the prophet Jeremiah.
"Your words were found, and I ate them; and Your Word was to me the joy and gladness of my heart . . ." (Jeremiah 15:16).
Ezekiel was commanded to eat the words God spoke.
"But you, son of man, hear what I am saying to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you." (Ezekiel 2:8, see also 3:1).
Finally, the Apostle John was commanded to eat a prophetic scroll.
"'Go, take the little book that is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the earth.' . . . And he said to me, 'Take it and eat it; and it shall make your belly bitter, but in your mouth, it shall be sweet as honey.'" (Revelation 10:8 - 9).
