The Bible informs us that Jesus was born into a household where his stepfather was a carpenter (Matthew 13:55). Carpenters at the time used wood to make yokes for oxen, wooden plows, threshing boards, benches, tables and so on. He, no doubt, learned the trade from Joseph and used it to support the family after Joseph's death.
It is a great and profound irony that the Lord would spend a great deal of time interacting and working with wood, a material that would be utilized to both torture and murder him through the crucifixion.
