* Music and the Jubilee *
A man named Jubal is the first person to create and play musical instruments (Genesis 4:21). This creation, according to William Whiston who translated the works of Josephus, is linked to the Jubilee year which began on the Day of Atonement.
"From this Jubal, not improbably, came Jobel, the trumpet of jobel or jubilee; that large and loud musical instrument, used in proclaiming the liberty at the year of jubilee." (Antiquities of the Jews, Book 1, Chapter 2, Section 2).
