Armed Guard memorabilia

Hello - My father, Michael Molinari, (dec'd Dec 2011) served in the Armed Guard from '43-'46. He was on the Andrew Carnegie and the ESSO Philadelphia .
I have some of his memorabilia. Is there a museum or organization that I can donate it to? He was born in New York City and lived in Brooklyn, NY all of his life. Ideally, we would like the material to go somewhere in New York State, but I have been unable to locate anything.

Thanks for posting up about your father and his service in the Armed Guard.
I am the adjunct curator for the Armed Guard Museum on board the SS John W. Brown.

We would love to have your fathers items for our collection.

My wifes family lives up on Long Island so we are up in NY several times a year. We also did a mini tour of the former Armed Guard Center in Brooklyn the other year and I made a few short videos of the site on my YouTube channel.

I am Chairman of Ashtabula (Ohio) Maritime and Surface Transportation Museum.Looking for a 3x5 Navy Armed Guard Flag to display at our MM/Armed Guard Memorial Site.Is there an Armed Guard Flag available for purchase or donation out there for us to fly at our Memorial Site. Thanks for any info.

Hello Tina,
My Father Robert Braswell was also in the Navy Armed Guard stationed out of Brooklyn 1943-1946. He then continued regular Navy until 1963. I was born and raised in Brooklyn because of his military stations.
I donated Dad's Armed Guard items to the SS John Brown. A Liberty Ship stationed out of Baltimore Harbor.
Would make a very nice day trip for a tour of the ship and make a donation to the museum on board.

Why does everyone forget The American Victory here in Tampa Florida?
We have many New York veterans here as well as the National Armed Guard Museum in Florida as well. It always is a sad hit when we are forgotten. As Liberty ships on West Coast and we are only Liberty around here.
We also have the greatest amount of Armed Guard sailor veterans living in the US at one time as well. Lots of AG guys have donated their things to the museum and it’s really awesome.
Almost like we are an unwanted stepchild. Lol

Almost forgot .
Our Ships Master up until his passing, served on both Liberty Ships and Victory Ships in the Royal Merchant Fleet. He was an amazing man.
Still have a lot of things on display including his wartime uniform.
