Hello, We took a side trip to visit the site of the former US NAVY Armed Guard Center in Brooklyn, NY on Saturday. Not much left from its WWII days. The only visible thing to the general public is the flag pole from the USS Brooklyn. Even this flag pole is really not open to the public. Here are a few short youtube videos I made during my visit.
Thanks for posting this. My Dad was stationed in Brooklyn and the New Jersey Depot when he was stateside during the war. And though he was in the Atlantic NAG he got a pacific theatre ribbon in late 1942. His first of 3 trips around the world during the world.
I have photographs of him training on the East River, NYC in the background. And have gone to the former Guard Center myself. The Brooklyn navy Yard Museum should add an exhibit on the NAG.
