Ron: Are memberships still being taken? I just learned that a friend served in the NAG in 1945 and made two trips to Europe on board SS Walter N Christiansen. His daughter and grandson are trying to get a pic of the ship. The information forms on the website give info on how to obtain pix and naval records. Are these still valid? Thanks for your help.

Hello Raymond,
Are you asking about membership in the NAG Veterans Association?
As far as I know the links still work. I have not tried them. Ron Carlson could answer this.
What ship are you looking for.
Regards, Craig

Asking for a friend. 1945 SS Walter M Christianson. Family trying to get information for his birthday in February. My father was also in Armed Guard. Advised family about the association and need for DD214 or discharge papers. Thanks for your response. Ray

Ray, Regarding the NAG Veterans Association. Contact: Clarence "Korky" Korker
He has basically taken over. He published a new Pointer, the Armed Guard news letter a few years back.
I am not finding any photos of the SS Walter N Christiansen. It seems to me like it was a "standard" liberty ship (if such a thing existed LOL). A good example might be the SS Jerimiah O'Brien berthed out in San Francisco. I posted a message on a Facebook groups page to see if they had more info.
I am NOT the expert in researching military records. But your best bet is to start with the DD214 form. Check ancestry.com also. They might have info if you have a subscription.
