Eugene A. Sprehn, Tech that outfitted the Robert E. Lewis Stevenson Liberty Ship with a boom buoy shortwave radio for tracking and identification. Sunken ship in scuttled failed attempt to detonate was located from pictures taken by Navel research vessel. Sprehn verified sunken ship, December 1969. .
I presume this ship was named after the famous writer and poet R. Louis Stevenson. He lived near here at Bournemouth a seaside resort on the south coast of England. Sadly his house, was bombed during WW2. The land on which it stood is now a nice public garden which I have visited once or twice. I've also had the pleasure visiting his house in Monterey California.
