Another month has passed. Your webmaster reports he is present and on duty.
The weather here in the DC area is moderating after a long, hot summer. We will receive some rain tonight and tomorrow, the remnants of Hurricane Harvey. My wife and I view the reports from Houston and elsewhere in Texas with deep concern and sympathy.

I'm here still. The weather here in Kansas has been mild for August. Have gotten some rain tonight, the first for a while. We are not getting any of the effects of Harvey. I also have been watch all the devastation in and around Houston.
My wife and I will be in the Baltimore and D.C area the end of September and would like to know what the hours of operation for the SS John Brown are, as we would like to visit her. Mel

Mel,
Access to SS JOHNS W BROWN is currently restricted to crew only, because there is demolition taking place on the pier. It is expected that demolition will be completed in a few weeks, so it may be possible to visit the ship by the very end of September. Give the ship a call before you leave for Baltimore (temporary phone number: 410-558-0164) to see if the ship is open for public visits.
When public visits are again available, the ship is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays only, while volunteer crew members are aboard. Hours are from 9 AM to about 2 PM, by which time many volunteers are leaving the ship. If the ship is open and if you plan to visit on a Saturday, send me an e-mail in advance and I will try to be aboard to meet you and give you a tour of the ship. Plan on at least two hours to tour the ship, more if you ask a lot of questions. At the moment my wife and I expect to be home all of September.
I actually live much closer to DC than to Baltimore so it might also be possible to meet you and your wife in the DC area for coffee or a drink or a meal or an expert tour of the city, whether or not you also visit the ship in Baltimore. Keep in touch. You can reach me directly at rcarl616@yahoo.com.
