Seeking ship(s) on which CSM John Lee Ware was a crewman

Bill,
Can you provide a little more information? I did searches for John Lee Ware and John L. Ware and came up with zero. A search for John Ware turns up over 100 matches. Can you give me John Lee Ware's birth date? His birth location? Do you know what position he might have held aboard ship? I am unfamiliar with the abbreviation CSM; what is that?
Thanks.

Bill,
Sorry, my attempts to find information about John Lee Ware have turned up empty.
Here's a better option for you. You may be able to obtain John Lee Ware's complete service record which should contain the information you seek. Please see this page from the website that I manage: http://armed-guard.com/searchmil.html. In particular see section A.1. Records of Individuals - U.S. Military. You will have to contact the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis, MO, a facility operated by the U.S. Archives. Provide as much identifying information as possible about John Ware. The links on the web page noted above will take you to the necessary pages of the Records Center web site. There may be a fee for obtaining the information but the Records Center staff will not begin research without informing you of any charge. His military service record should contain such information as the ships to which he was assigned, applicable dates, training, illnesses or injuries, any decorations or medals earned, etc.
I presume that you are related to John Ware but of course I do not know in what way. It is important to be aware that only someone who is next of kin to the person in question will be able to obtain that person's full service record. If not next of kin you will be able to obtain only a portion of the service record. (Next of kin = parent, spouse, sibling, child.) So if you are not next of kin to John Ware, it would be better if someone in your family who is next of kin to John Ware make the request to the Records Center. You can do the legwork of research, completing forms and otherwise preparing the request but the request should be signed by the next of kin. If there is no person in your family who is next of kin to John Ware, then make the request yourself and hope for the best.
Good luck.
