On January 12, 2013 my father passed away at the Holyoke Soldiers' home in Holyoke Ma. He served on SS Jacob Luckenbach 1944, SS Edward J O'Brien 1945 and SS Alexander V Frazer 1946. I have heard the stories of the Murmansk Run and Archangel from my dad and they will always be cherished in my heart. Please post this in the Pointer if possible. He was very proud of his service and lifelong friends made when he served. God Bless and Thank you. Fred Harvey (son)
Thank you for your information, and my sympathies on the death of your father. Every Armed Guard sailor was a brave man.
The Armed Guard website and The Pointer are two entirely separate entities. The Pointer is the property of the U.S.N. Armed Guard World War II Veterans Association, which is led by a Mr. C.A. Lloyd in North Carolina. The Veterans Association has no role in the website and I have no role in The Pointer. That said, C.A. Lloyd and I keep in close contact. I will forward your information to him.
Just FYI, C.A.'s contact information is:
C.A. Lloyd, Chairman U.S.N. Armed Guard World War II Veterans Association 115 Wall Creek Drive Rolesville, NC 27571 Telephone: 919-570-0909 E-mail: clloyd@nc.rr.com
Again thanks for passing on your information.
