Every day, including weekends, I look in here and scan the names and see not old men bent over computer keyboards but young fellas in white hats and dungarees, peering out of a 20mm gun tub and wondering what might lie not far beneath the surface of that gray-green sea. We're told not to dwell on the past, to be more concerned about what tomorrow will bring, but the memories won't go away. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. -- Fran

I agree with you- Having spent 4 years in the Armed Guard- I have a lot of memories Of my ships and shipmates.(Some good and some bad)I sailed with a wonderful group of sailors on 8 ships, I suppose most of them are gone now, I still have pictures of some of those young Kids- We were 17 to 21-- Enlisting at age 17 in Dec 1941--I_grew up in the Navy-Armed Guard And learned a lot from the older MerchantMarine Officers and Crew--Tying knots--ect..Which helped me a lot spending 30 years as a Firefighter.I am now 88 and Memories are all I have of the Past.
