The really frustrating feature of this message board is that it does not "bump" topics to the top as replies are posted. All the many interesting and informative discussions of the past are buried pages and pages deep. Nobody wants to or thinks to go through all the countless old postings to find these topics and resurrect them with new replies.

I have been part of many such discussions. However, there is presently no way to continue them without completely reposing all that was posted before. Unless one was part of the original discussion, a reply now would be totally out of context and virtually meaningless to first-time readers.

I'm not frustrated by having to scroll down here in order to see what has been added to old discussions. I'm frustrated by calling up this site day after and finding nothing new, not at the top and not well down into it. My father told me that if I had nothing to say I should say nothing, and that was sound advice; I follow it still, or try to. But even though my posts are often without substance, I put them up mainly to let the world know I'm still here and haven't yet succumbed to dementia.

Fran...I completely agree with you. I apologize for staying off the site for so long.
I will try (again) to not miss being on more than three days.
I've still got a "whole bunch of words left in me" so I'll see how many I can get out my remaining days!!!!
The weather here, as in a huge area, has been very hot. It will continue for at least several
more days.
I have been doing a bit of research about my family "tree". It is quite an interesting thing to do...and I am finding out things I had never known about.
So far no horse thieves or bank robbers.
Keep those messages coming in!
Fran is right. We are all getting OLD. Post often so we can rest assured that you are not layng in the morgue or have been given the "deep six".

Hi all, to let you know I'm still here. Watching the TV to see how the Senate votes and whether I and many others get our S S checks. Also veterans and service people. After a rough and extended winter we are into our hot season. 97 to
105 degrees. Red Bluff, Ca.

The heat wave has "simmered down" a bit here. It's now in the high 80's.
I told my wife that it won't be long until we will be moaning and groaning about the cold and the snow!!!!! You just can't satisfy the human being!
Fall is actually our favorite time of year. It is usually beautiful around Indiana during that period and we love it.
Hang in there all you swab jockeys. Don't pay attention to all the "scare" talk about the SS checks, etc.
Politicians make you want to toss your cookies!
Most of us in this nation are better off than most of the world's population. Most of the last generation or two have been terribly SPOILED!
They talk about the present times being like the Great Depression...I haven't heard them mention that during those days there was NO UNEMPLOYMENT PAY AT ALL.
Example: In Indiana a couple laid off can draw about $400 a week EACH . Now if you can't "get by" on that you have a BIG problem!
I get disgusted by the spoiled whiners everywhere.

Hey it is great to hear from all of you again. Fran I think anything you have to say I will find well worth reading. Had an older brother that was Armed Guard but I never got to tsalk to him about his time in the navy as he married and moved out of tenn. shortly after he got out. Roy I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that spends a lot of time digging up bones you can learn a lot about your family history. If I can be of any help please let me know have been on ancestry.com for about 5 years . It is hot herealso but the humidity has dropped to about 40%so that helps some.
