My grandfather served on American small ships out of Australia in WWll.
I have tried to find an appropiate Web site for further information without success.
Can anyone forward to me an appropiate email address.

Hi Des.

When you say "Small Ships", are you referring to the Patrol Craft, which consisted of several classes of ships? If so, the Patrol Craft Sailors Association has an excellent web site (and newsletter), which can be found at:

thank you for your quick responce.
I don't think it was patrol craft.
I did find "American Small Ships Association Inc."
after I emailed you on the internet.
This sounds like the site for further information.
I sent an email to this site shortly after I sent the email to you. I have yet to receive a reply.
Do you think the above site is correct or can you suggest a better one.

Without any further information, it is hard to tell. "Small Ships" can mean several different things, I suppose. Was this referring to "Merchant Ships", "US Naval Ships", or something else?

Was your grandfather in the US Navy, the Merchant Marines, ????.

I believe it was the US Navy.Des,

Spoke with mum about Grandad's service on the American Small Ships. Mum said that he worked on the supply ships between Sydney & Rabual NG (sorry about the spelling). Have attached a photo of Grandad in his uniform. He is in his forties. Looks good.

I do not think he was in the US Navy.
He was a British citizen.
