My father, Morriss Mills Jr. MD was an Army Transport Surgeon on the George W Julian after VJ day, bringing troops home from the Pacific. He finished his service in San Francisco in early 1947, where my mother was staying. All his WWII service records were lost in a fire but I have an envelope (no letter) from him to a relative, dated 5 Mar 1946, from that ship, at Pier 56, Seattle WA.

Is there a way to find the places where that ship traveled (during the time frame of Sept 1945 and April 1947)? Or which of the armed forces were transported in that time? And would he have been assigned to the same ship throughout that time period? He didn't tell stories of his service. ANY info would help - thanks!
