My father was aboard the Franklin K. Lane during the Iwo Jima invasion. He passed away in '02. He told me that he and others in the AG went a shore to Iwo and they were tasked with going into caves to eliminate Japanese Marines who were hold up. I have searched for records and the only person that knew a good deal about it was a docent at the Museum of the Marine Corps. He was a Marine Iwo survivor and showed me on a large map where the AG went a shore and the path they followed up the island. Unfortunately when I tried to return for more details I learned the gentleman had passed away. My question is, does anyone have any record or information they could share with me? Greatly appreciated. Regards, Bill Tew
