why are you saying your prayers these days?
Well I’ve been speaking to the Reverend Drawbridge about my chances of going
to heaven and he advised me on the subject. My wife looked at me quizzically and
asked why it was necessary to kneel at your bedside to say your prayers. I just don’t
want to take any chances I said. Anyway the Reverend Drawbridge knows a thing or
two about these matters. He recently related to me the case of three members of his
Religious fraternity who all passed away on the same day.
It seems they all found themselves together in the waiting room ‘up there’ when
St Peter came in. Do we get to see God now please?, they all said.
All in good time he said but first of all you must correctly complete a test and we’ll
start with you Bishop, tell me who was the first man in the world?
The Bishop quickly answered Adam. Correct said St Peter.
Now Priest who was the first woman?. The Priest joyously answered Eve. Correct
said St Peter.
Finally Lady Nun tell me what was the very first thing that Eve said to Adam?
Oh, that’s hard, she said.
And St Peter took pity on her and said, Correct.
Happy month of March to you all.
